Headcanon that Ed’s hair just looks absolutely perfect and Winry has gone up to him and BEGGED him to tell her what on earth he puts in his hair and he just kinda looked at her and went “Uh- Soap?” and she got really upset because how dare he have such good hair and do absolutely nothing to it

he lied and actually spends like 45 minutes putting product and shit in his hair and thats the real reason why he’s always late

lol so true

One time when I was younger I was refusing to take headache medicine and my mom said “the person who invented that medicine is probably so sad you won’t let them help you” and now every time I find myself denying medicine I just imagine the saddest scientist making those big wet eyes like “why won’t you let me help” and whoop then I take the medicine

Anonymous asked:

I liked your rant! What is one of the things you want to say about the Kimblee Never Went To Prison AU that you feel the readers haven't picked up on? Me included. I'm kinda clueless *shy*

limetameta answered:

Howdy! I yell a lot, but don’t be shy to come into my dms or my ask box lmao.

The thing I want to underline for the Crimsonverse specifically pertains to Kimblee’s humanity. In canon, we don’t really see him interact with many people in a friendly manner. We do in the manga mainly; he’s the most human in the manga. But brotherhood writes him as a lean, mean killing machine. It doesn’t take a pause and breathe some levity into him or otherwise doesn’t spend any time aligning him with human beings. Which I understand! Because Kimblee in canon is an antagonist and is supposed to be seen on the side of the homunculi. They take him out of prison, they give him the ph stone, they set him on our beloved characters. They’re the ones whom we expect Kimblee to be aligned to and loyal to. (which makes that last stint with Pride vs Ed such a COOL moment because you’re reminded that Kimblee’s human. And he doesn’t like hypocrites lmao)

Now when I rewatched FMAB in February and March of this year (2k22 let’s go, be kinder than the previous ones) I kept thinking about how Kimblee’s humanity is so unexplored in fanon. Most of the time he’s this sociopath with violent tendencies, this paragon of destruction and chaos. He does have violent tendencies. He does have a penchant for destruction. But all of this is always something that he’s in control of 100%. It’s a calculated effort on his part. It’s not something that just HAPPENS to him.

He can be incredibly polite. He can hold conversations. He’s not some imbecile that makes things go boom all the time.

Kimblee in MC is a human being. He’s surrounded by human beings. He has a cat. He has hobbies. He has likes and dislikes. His entire identity doesn’t hinge on his being the Crimson Lotus Alchemist. On being a human weapon.

Even though there’s a common theme in the crimsonverse where OTHERS have a big problem differentiating the Crimson Lotus Alchemist/Bomber of Ishval from Solf J. Kimblee.

This story is mainly the story of human complexities. It’s a favourite subject for me to write.

So, now you have Kimblee who’s a human being (but doesn’t have the ISOLATION that he does in canon while he’s in prison) - if anything Good Guy Maes Hughes and Best Girl Gracia Hughes have made it so that unfortunately for Kimblee, he’s USED TO people now. He’s USED TO belonging in a little group, a social circle to call his own. Which will, down the line, be devastating for him because a human weapon works best when you’re isolated. When you don’t have others to rely on or others to rely on you. Kimblee in canon is an island.

MC Kimblee? He wasn’t allowed to be one.

And the homunculi, at the end of the day, are not and cannot be human beings. They are the monsters that built Amestris on foundation drenched in blood. They never miss an opportunity to call Kimblee a human being (derogatory). But they don’t understand that, yes, Kimblee’s a human being - and yes, he might have been curious about a world where the homunculi win and humanity loses (were he not PULLED into being human, not just being a weapon, but actually surrounding himself by the people he cares about and those who care about him)

FMA is and always will be a story about found family. About how love changes a person, either platonic or romantic or familial.

The question has been posed in MC in regards to Kimblee’s humanity by people he’s not friendly with. Armstrong is a good example. He wonders if Kimblee even is human if he could do the things he’s done in Ishval? Mustang doesn’t think Kimblee’s a person. Edward thinks he’s violent. But you see all of these moments paralleled by the homunculi constantly hammering in the fact that to them Kimblee is a lowly human. Kimblee is beneath them in every way shape or form.

Objectively speaking, Kimblee is a human being through and through.

But his subjective view on the world is rather muddled at the moment. Right now it’s like he’s a trapeze artist thrown to walk his line while everyone around (his friends, his coworkers, people, homunculi) is watching him. He’s toeing the fine line between human and weapon, and he isn’t quite sure on which side he’ll land.

Bringing this back as a reminder for the folks who have forgotten and the new folks

junebug-juno

this post makes an especially interesting point that i think fanon fails to make (not just in fma, but especially now as fandom is being more and more sanitized and less complex) is that no human being on the planet to ever exist is fully and 100% evil and awful. bad people can do good things as well as good people doing bad things and i think your examination of kimblee is SO fascinating. i personally don’t like him in fma, but i think he is an amazingly written character and serves his purpose as an antagonist EXTREMELY well and is super important to the story. you see him calling out the hypocrisy of team mustang in volume 15 of the manga (this is the volume that talks about isvhal in depth and was largely cut from fmab for ppl who haven’t read the manga) and their view on him/ishval in general (most notably with the “don’t turn a blind eye to death” section) and he’s both absolutely right while also being so twisted. (kinda makes me wish the military participants of isvhal were explored more, and not from ed’s perspective! that also raises the question and conversation about how someone’s framing and presentation affects the reader’s views on them too! everyone loves mustang and co bc of how they’re framed (and of course bc of kimblee being sadistic, id be remiss to leave that out because in canon he’s rather. eugh. very unhinged and weird lmao)) but when it comes down to brass tax, they’ve committed the same unforgivable crimes

kimblee is not a good person imo and he’s not ä character i typically interact with, but the same merits we measure him with apply to mustang, hawkeye, hughes and armstrong; they’re war criminals. none of them are good people. they ALL murdered innocent people at the end of the day.

i think the way you’ve explored his character is absolutely fascinating and well done and poses a lot of questions relating to how fandom views morality and i really think it’s neat as fuck. ive especially noticed an almost moral perfectionism in fandom as of late in regards to both consumption of the actual media itself and fandom content, ie in regards to censorship and what should/should not be involved in media. (i apologize for going on a huge fucking tangent lmao, this is just what gets my brain excited.) it’s almost like people don’t want to further examine characters/media belong face value and don’t want to interact with “problematic” media, and if they do a lot of the time they miss the point/end up uwu-ifying characters (which i don’t think you’ve done btw! there’s been examples of absolutely weird takes regarding kimblee (throwback to the one twitter user who claimed he’s jewish-coded and therefore couldn’t be subject to criticism/dislike and if you did those things you’re antisemitic))

i don’t interact with fma a lot anymore but everytime i see your MC posts im like YES CHEFS KISS i love the way you explore these characters!! maybe i’m reading into it and my silly little brain is reading into everything and making too many connections but i’m just so intrigued by your MC au

(once again i apologize for going off in this reblog i’m just OOOOO i’m so fascinated by this kind of discussion. hope this makes sense and i’m coming across how u mean to bc i am so out of it rn lol)
